What changed

Rolex set the list. The Perpetual Padellone lists from US$59,000 in Everose gold, US$66,200 in platinum and US$72,800 on the Settimo bracelet.

What it means · The Desk’s View

If you sell Rolex at retail: the bracelet adds US$13,800 to the Everose reference, or 23.4%.

If you value used Rolex: the reference this revives ran from 1949 to 1953 only.

What this is not: a limited edition. Rolex places the Padellone in its permanent collection.

IThe bracelet beats the metal

Gold over platinum. The Everose gold on a Settimo bracelet lists at US$72,800, above the platinum on leather at US$66,200.

A gap of $6,600. Rolex charges 10.0% more for the gold bracelet than for the platinum case, on the US list.

IITwo price lists, one ladder

Same steps, two currencies. The platinum premium is 12.2% on the US list and 12.4% on the Swiss. The bracelet premium is 23.4% on both.

Not a conversion. Each figure is its own market's list price, so neither column is the other divided by a rate.

IIIAn off-calendar launch

Thirty-nine millimetres. The case runs 39mm across and 12.20mm deep, in Everose gold or platinum.

Outside the fair. Rolex introduced the watch in September rather than at Watches and Wonders, the industry's main exhibition.

A 1949 name returns. The Padellone name last ran on reference 8171, a triple calendar discontinued in 1953.

About a thousand made. Monochrome puts the original's production at roughly 1,000 to 1,200 pieces.

01What would change this call+

A price list published by Rolex. These figures come from two specialist outlets, not from the maker, and rolex.com refused this desk's fetch.

02Why two lists are not one price+

Rolex sets a list price per market, struck in the local currency and reflecting local tax treatment, duty and distribution cost. A US list and a Swiss list for the same reference are therefore two separate prices, not one price expressed twice, and dividing one by the other returns an implied rate that has no market meaning. What does travel between markets is the ladder: the percentage step from one reference to the next, which reflects the maker's own view of what the metal and the bracelet are worth. When two independently reported lists produce the same ladder, each one corroborates the other.

03Method · the desk’s arithmetic+

Prices were taken from two independent specialist outlets and cross-checked against each other rather than from the maker: rolex.com returned 403 to this desk and no substitute address was guessed. Arithmetic, Carat Capital's. US list: 66,200 over 59,000 is 1.12203, a premium of 12.2%; 72,800 over 59,000 is 1.23390, a premium of 23.4%; 72,800 over 66,200 is 1.09970, so the gold bracelet lists 10.0% above the platinum case, a difference of $6,600. Swiss list: 59,000 over 52,500 is 1.12381, a premium of 12.4%; 64,800 over 52,500 is 1.23429, a premium of 23.4%. The two ladders agree to a tenth of a point on the bracelet and within 0.2 points on platinum, which is the check that both lists were read correctly. DISCLOSED DIVERGENCE BETWEEN OUTSIDE SOURCES: on the calibre's frequency, SJX reads 4 Hz and 28,800 vibrations an hour while a second summary of the Monochrome coverage reads 5 Hz and 36,000. Neither is the maker and this desk could not settle it, so the frequency is not printed anywhere in this article. Archive test, both periods named: a grep of this paper's 375-article archive returns zero hits for Padellone, 8171, Dynapulse and Cellini. Carat Capital's 12 September watches piece covers Rolex's share of Chrono24 secondary-market sales in 2026; this item covers a primary-market launch and its list prices. Same maker, different market, different period, so NEW.
