Phillips Geneva sells a Journe at CHF 8.68m and a Patek at CHF 6.27m
Lot 7, a 2002 F.P. Journe Résonance, hammered at CHF 7.1 million against an estimate of more than CHF 1 million, before buyer's premium. The 1945 Patek hammered at CHF 5.1 million against a CHF 4 million high estimate.

What changed
The Journe outsold the Patek. Phillips sold an F.P. Journe Résonance for CHF 8.68m and a 1945 Patek Philippe Ref. 1436 for CHF 6.27m in Geneva on 7 November. Both prices include buyer's premium.
What it means
- If you price independents: lot 60, a Journe Vagabondage III, hammered at CHF 4.1 million, 5.9 times its CHF 700,000 high estimate.
- If you consign vintage Patek: the Ref. 1436 hammered 27.5% above its high estimate.
- What this is not: a sale total or a sell-through rate. The second session, with the Cartier Portico clock, runs on 8 November.

The story so far

What would change this call
Lot 7 and lot 60 are two watches. If the second session's Journe lots, 125, 151, 161, 211 and 213, hammer inside their bands, the first session's multiples read as single-lot results, not a trend.
How a Phillips price is built
The hammer is the winning bid. Phillips adds a buyer's premium on a cumulative basis: 27% of the hammer up to CHF 1,600,000, 21% from there to CHF 7,000,000 and 14.5% above. The Sold For price is hammer plus premium. Estimates are set on the hammer, so a Sold For price is never compared with an estimate here.
Method
Phillips' sale page for Geneva Watch Auction: XXIV, https://www.phillips.com/auction/CH080426, read 04:5x EST 8 November 2026 (2,487,676 bytes, identifying user agent; the same byte count the Bureau measured at 04:4x). Each grid tile reads lot, maker, model, 'Estimate', and 'Sold For'. Lots 1 to 107 each carry a Sold For; the page data gives the second session as lots 108 to 221 ('lotNumberStart' 108, 'lotNumberEnd' 221). Lot pages read 8 November: lot 7 (180,438 bytes) 'soldPrice',8680500,'hammerPrice',7100000, year 2002, platinum, 'hand engraved shiny pink gold dial'; lot 95 (194,243) 6267000 / 5100000, 1945, stainless steel; lot 60 (170,356) 5057000 / 4100000, 2019; lot 106 (170,615) 1968500 / 1550000, 2004, platinum; lot 20 (179,901) 1905000 / 1500000; lot 34 (165,066) 1174750 / 925000; lot 107 from the sale page's data, 1397000 / 1100000. Premium tiers quoted from the sale page: '27% of the hammer price up to and including CHF1,600,000, 21% of the portion of the hammer price above CHF1,600,000 up to and including CHF7,000,000 and 14.5% of the portion ... above CHF7,000,000'. Checks, ours: lot 7, 432,000 + 0.21 x 5,400,000 + 0.145 x 100,000 = 1,580,500; 7,100,000 + 1,580,500 = 8,680,500. Lot 95, 432,000 + 0.21 x 3,500,000 = 1,167,000; 5,100,000 + 1,167,000 = 6,267,000. Ratios of hammer to high estimate: 5,100,000 / 4,000,000 = 1.275, so 27.5% above; 4,100,000 / 700,000 = 5.86; 1,550,000 / 700,000 = 2.21; 1,100,000 / 800,000 = 1.375; 925,000 / 500,000 = 1.85; 1,500,000 / 1,600,000 = 0.9375, inside the band. Seven Sold For values at or above CHF 1,000,000 among lots 1 to 107 (parsed from the tiles: 8,680,500; 6,267,000; 5,057,000; 1,968,500; 1,905,000; 1,397,000; 1,174,750). No sale total is printed: Phillips' page gives none that was read, and a sum of tiles is not a house figure. Prior coverage: the 18 September preview gave lot 95's estimate; this page gives the result. The 18 July Vagabondage II result was a different watch.
