What changed

The collection launched. Audemars Piguet opened Royal Oak Joaillerie at Paris Fashion Week on 1 October 2026. It is an 18-piece suite of necklaces, earrings, cuffs and chokers, and it contains no watch. No retail price was published.

What it means

  • If you retail high jewellery: A watch house is now bidding for the same client.
  • If you price a Royal Oak: Nothing here moves a watch price. No watch is in the line.
  • What this is not: A priced collection. No figure was published, so no margin can be read.

Eighteen pieces, no watch.

No watch is included. Robb Report states the collection does not feature a single watch and is an 18-piece suite of jewels. It names necklaces, earrings, cuffs and chokers.

The bracelet carries over. The pieces carry the Royal Oak bracelet's interlocking links in mixed polished and brushed finishes. Materials are gold and titanium, set with precious and non-precious stones.

Notes on this table

Every figure except the last row is Robb Report's, read as raw bytes and grepped before printing: the exact strings '18-piece', '506 leaf-shaped', '19 amethyst cabochons' and '16 black spinel cabochons' each return one hit in the saved file. The last row is Carat Capital's addition, 506 + 19 + 16 = 541, and is not attributed to the report. Audemars Piguet's own site returned 404 for the collection page attempted on 2 October 2026, so no manufacturer document corroborates any count here and the whole table rests on one trade account.

One cuff carries 541 stones.

One cuff counted. The Blueberries Royal Oak cuff carries 506 leaf-shaped and brilliant-cut diamonds, 19 amethyst cabochons and 16 black spinel cabochons. That is 541 stones on Carat Capital's addition.

Six cuffs in all. The report counts six bejewelled cuffs in the suite, among them a sunburst of orange and yellow sapphires with spessartites. A Frosted Gold finish appears, developed with Carolina Bucci in 2016.

Jewellery outgrew watches at Richemont.

Jewellery grew faster. Robb Report puts Richemont's jewellery maisons up 24% in the quarter to 30 June and its watchmakers up 8%. Both figures are that report's, not Carat Capital's count.

Luxury growth was cut. The same report records Morgan Stanley reducing its 2026 luxury sector growth estimate to 2.5% in May. Audemars Piguet has published no sales figure for the new line.

What to watch

  • Audemars Piguet's own releaseWhether the house publishes a piece count or any retail price, neither of which exists in the trade account this rests on.
  • Richemont's next quarterly salesWhether jewellery keeps outgrowing watches at the 24% against 8% rate cited here.
  • The next Royal Oak Joaillerie piecesWhether the suite is extended, which the report expects and the house has not confirmed.

The story so far

  1. Christie's watch sales rose 39% as Guillemin took a global role
  2. Patek, Rolex and Audemars Piguet pulled away on the resale board
  3. Audemars Piguet took £105 million in Britain and returned £7.8 million

What would change this call

A single source. Everything here rests on one trade account, because Audemars Piguet has published nothing this desk could reach: the house's own collection page returned 404 on 2 October 2026. If the manufacturer's release carries a different piece count, a different stone count or a retail price, the figures above change and the desk's view that no margin can be read becomes wrong rather than cautious. The second reading that would move the call is a price: an 18-piece suite at high-jewellery money and the same suite at accessible money are two different competitive events for anyone retailing coloured stones.

Why a watch house sells jewellery

A watch maison and a high-jewellery maison sell to overlapping clients through the same boutiques, on the same appointment, with the same credit and the same aftercare, which is why the move costs less than it looks. The constraint is not retail but the workshop: setting hundreds of cabochons and brilliant-cut stones into a titanium and gold cuff is gem-setting work, not watchmaking, and it needs setters, a stone-buying desk and a design language that survives being taken off the wrist. Audemars Piguet has had a jewellery workshop since the 1980s and made pendant and ring watches with jewellers before that, so the capability is old even though the standalone collection is new. The reason to use it now is mix: jewellery has been growing faster than watches inside the large groups, and a jewellery line sells against a client's existing watch rather than instead of it. The measure of whether it worked will be a sales line, and no house in this category publishes one for a single collection.

Method

One document carries this story and it is a trade account, not a manufacturer release: Robb Report's launch report, fetched with a browser identity, 200, 419,005 bytes, saved as raw bytes before any figure was written. Exact-string grep counts in that saved file: '18-piece' one hit, '506' present in the sentence '506 leaf-shaped and brilliant-cut diamonds', '2.5 percent' one hit, '24 percent' one hit, '8 percent' one hit, 'Royal Oak Joaillerie' three hits, and 'Fashion Week' one hit in the sentence 'launching today - smack in the middle of a buzzy, media-frenzied Paris Fashion Week - is the debut', which is what dates the launch to the report's own publication date of 1 October 2026 rather than to a listing page. Audemars Piguet's own site was tried for a corroborating release and returned 404, 109,273 bytes, so the single-source limit is disclosed rather than papered over. One figure the report gives is printed only in part: it calls the Richemont period the third quarter ending June 30, which does not match Richemont's own fiscal calendar, so only the quarter-end date of 30 June is printed here and the ordinal is left out. Ilaria Resta is quoted in the report; no quotation is carried in this article and the quote count for the piece is zero. The archive was checked by opening every hit rather than counting: Audemars Piguet returns thirteen articles, every one opened, dated 14 July to 4 September 2026 and covering the resale board, a British tax paradox, a De Bethune approach, Rolex's premium, Christie's watch sales and comparable market pieces. Royal Oak returns three, all opened, none about jewellery. No article in this archive covers an Audemars Piguet jewellery collection, so the verdict is NEW: period not applicable, first coverage of this line.
