A trade paper, in the oldest sense — built for the fastest market
Carat Capital is the daily intelligence desk of the global jewelry industry: prices, reporting and analysis for the people who make, move and sell the world's most beautiful objects.
The jewelry trade runs from the mines of Botswana to the ateliers of Place Vendôme, through the bourses of Antwerp, the polishing wheels of Surat, the auction rooms of Geneva and the livestream studios of Shenzhen. It employs millions, turns over hundreds of billions of dollars, and until now has had no single, modern, daily paper of record. That is the job we hired ourselves to do.
We publish six desks — Diamonds, Gold & Metals, Colored Gemstones, Watches, Auctions & Estates, and Retail & Technology — plus a daily price tape and the Morning Brief, a five-minute email filed before the market opens. Reading is free at the counter; depth is for members.
Editorial standards
Everything we publish is original writing. We research widely and credit sources by name and link at the foot of every article. We never reproduce another publication's text or images. Prices are verified the morning of publication or marked unchanged. We do not accept payment for coverage; sponsored content, when it exists, will say so in the headline. When we are wrong, we correct in place and note it. Every claim is priced, sourced, or cut.
